Web16 dic 2012 · the DFs are 50 dollars for their high end pickups, Tex Mexes are somewhere between 60 and 100. To me there is a clear-cut winner. I'm tempted to try their vintage wound set, soon, and also their vintage humbuckers. I have 2 sets of their H-90s and they are absolutely outstanding, too. Has anyone here used any of their pickups? WebI actually think the Dragon IIs are very good pickups but most guys recommend the C-5/59 or C-5/Jazz set for the Custom 22 or McCarty. I also hear the Pearly Gates are a great choice as is the JB/Jazz. Another option is the overwound C-5. Personally, I'd say C-5/Jazz! For now I am keeping my Dragon IIs.

The tone is round and buttery smooth with just the right amount of definition and pick attack. Chords ring clear. Both pups seem to be well potted with little to no monophonic feedback. In really nice shape (1 scratch on one of the bobbins but for being 23+ years old they're rockin). 5 inches of lead on the bridge, 9 inches on the neck.
